Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones. If you want to be blessed with healthy longevity, you don’t want osteoporosis. Part of your anti aging routine must include taking steps to prevent osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis Symptoms
Osteoporosis symptoms aren’t conducive to a happy, active life. When you have osteoporosis, you have reduced bone mass and density. Your bones become porous and weak. Osteoporosis symptoms include having bones that break easily and heal slowly. Osteoporosis symptoms can also include joint pain, lose of height, and spinal deformation.
Osteoporosis Prevention
Osteoporosis prevention requires a combination of good nutrition, good exercise habits and other self care habits. You and how you treat your body are the foundations of osteoporosis prevention. Here are some osteoporosis prevention strategies:
o Part of your healthy diet must include foods high in calcium. If you don’t eat enough foods to get calcium, supplement your diet with a high-quality calcium supplement.

o Daily exercise is a must. Weight bearing exercise such as walking is the best cardiovascular exercise for osteoporosis prevention. You also need to do muscle toning exercise. Lifting weights helps you sustain bone mass.
o Get outside at least 15 minutes a day. Although some foods have Vitamin D, the best source is the sun. Vitamin D is an important part of osteoporosis prevention.

o Quit smoking. Smoking hastens osteoporosis symptoms.
o Limit alcohol consumption to no more than two drinks a day. Excess alcohol isn’t good for your bones.
Osteoporosis doesn’t have to be a part of aging. You can stand tall and strong in your 70s, 80s and beyond if you begin practicing habits that will prevent osteoporosis.
